These forms are the most important documents in your file. They form the basis for your evaluation. In the middle of your junior year, write a biographical essay. Include as a part of this essay a statement as to why you feel you should be given a seat in a professional school.

Also include a list of your hobbies, special talents, extra-curricular activities, and memberships in associations in and out of school. Give a full description of all honors and scholarships you have received. List relevant work experience. Return the essay to the Pre-professional adviser in room M In order to be granted an interview and have an evaluation prepared, you must meet the following additional requirements: You must be an undergraduate student at Long Island University and have completed at least 85 credits of which no less than 60 credits must be completed in residence.

If you do not meet these requirements, or you are a post-baccalaureate student, it may still be possible for the Committee to help you process your pre-professional application. Your grade-point average cannot be below 3. The year-long program is comprised of basic science medical courses, a graduate biomedical science core in advanced cell biology and genetics.

This one-year program is designed to enhance scientific knowledge and professional preparation for students seeking to attend medical school or other health professions training. The program features basic science courses in biochemistry, cell biology, immunology, histology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology. The program also has both a MCAT prep course and short clinical preceptorship experience.

It provides an opportunity for highly motivated individuals to grow as a student and to improve their academics to a level that can allow them to earn admittance into medical school. The program is offered to attract individuals from rural areas, low socioeconomic status backgrounds, and underrepresented minorities, although acceptance is not limited to individuals from these groups. The MSMS program will educate students who intend to become physicians, dentists, podiatrists, physician assistants, pharmacists, optometrists and other health professionals in the research basis of medical knowledge and provide the analytic tools necessary to become well- informed, evidence-based practitioners.

Qualified students who have obtained a baccalaureate science degree will be prepared in a unique, rigorous interprofessional environment for successful application to graduate professional programs, both external and internal, as well as for careers in teaching and industry. Students who successfully complete this program are exempt from taking the first semester anatomy course, excluding the head and neck portion. They participate as facilitators during the dissection labs and receive a stipend.

Students will be evaluated after two semesters and upon successful attainment of the GPA requirement will be accepted into the Post Bac Pre-med program. If a student is not eligible for the Pre-med track, the student may continue on the Science track and take courses, but will not be eligible for a committee letter or pre-health advising.

Students may take a few courses needed for medical school at Fordham. Students must be admitted into the Post Bacc program in order to get registered for courses and to obtain a transcript from Fordham. Students in this category are not eligible for advising or the CHP process at Fordham.

At Fordham University international students seeking an F1 visa for a non-degree granting program must complete their studies within one year.

Once admitted to the Post Baccalaureate program, students MUST meet with the Office of International Students prior to academic advising and registration to verify visa documents and academic requirements.
